General Bram Tillsley spoke about his time before retiring as the International Leader of the Salvation Army. The theme of his topic "Caring Is Sharing" included the question: Do we still need the Army? It's easy to love people in the abstract, but can you roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty doing something concrete ? This is the main thrust of the Army and the needs are different all over the world, but the Army is a hands-on / sleeves rolled up ministry and they will continue to do good work. However concerned or overwhelmed we may feel, " it is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness".
