President’s Rose Buck Madden was introduced to our club by John Law, in 1987. He recognized the need for community service which focuses on the youth in our community, and joining our club was a perfect fit. Buck has spent time on many committees, including Interclub, Air Cadets Seniors/Hands-On and Key Club as well as Club Secretary in 1996-97 but he also took an immediate interest in our Music Committee. This year was no exception and we thank you once again for all of your help with the Kiwanis Music Festival.

GOOD NEWS NETWORK
On April 28th, The Salvation Army honoured a great Kiwanian. Tom Spence completed 30 years as a volunteer at the Christmas Kettle. When most volunteers are at a kettle inside a warm shopping mall, Tom has been at the coldest spot in Ottawa just outside the Zellers store on Sparks Street, always smiling and always cheerful. The Salvation Army in Ottawa thanks all Kiwanians and all Service Clubs for their untiring efforts at Christmas, but this year we were pleased to single out Tom Spence. 30 years is worth mentioning.
Congratulations to Tom and Judith Pullen, celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on May 21, 2006.
