What a jam-packed programme! It was great to see so many visiting clubs - from places like Aruba, Jamaica, Newfoundland - a great turnout of 184 attendees. EC&C District Governor Elke McCumber was proud to introduce her 27 Lt. Governors (her bodyguards!) and was equally proud to present the $50,000 cheque to Canadian Special Olympics founder Dr. Frank Hayden and the Chair, Peter Hoysted, on behalf of the Kiwanis Clubs in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.
We should all be very proud - from what the rumour mill is saying we even exceeded our own expectations! David Van Praagh spoke on the very real issue of the many obstacles Asia must face to prevent China's domination. He spoke of the many accomplishments that have already been made in the attempt to have political and economic freedom and how we must apply the lessons learned from the previous century.
Peter Hoysted, Chair of the Special Olympics, congratulated us on the successful raising of $50,000 and gave us a heartfelt thank you for the personal efforts of all the volunteers and all the Clubs who participated in creating magic for this great event.
Kiwanis = Heroes !
