Julius Riungu, a member of the Carleton University Circle K, was motivated to organize a book drive similar to the U.S. group who donated books to his school in Kenya when he was 11 years old. He recalled receiving magazines and books and the impact they had in improving his knowledge while inspiring his dreams and creativity.
Today, over 20,000 books have been collected, affecting the lives of 20,000 people. Education is the key to success for this program, and is essential to changing the lives of the recipients of these books. His continued focus to deliver educational materials to institutions such as high schools is providing limitless possibilities to improve education in Africa, proving that one is the Kiwanian who takes the time to “Make a Difference”.
