Weekly Meeting - Carolyn Wilkins, Senior Economist Bank of Canada

The Circle K members and the Circle K committee thank all the Kiwanis members who attended last week's luncheon for their generous support of the Circle K Clubs at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. A total of $381.52 was raised and shared between the two clubs which will help their members attend future conventions or help defray costs associated with recruiting new members. This support also assures the Circle K clubs that the KCO is behind our sponsored youth and that they are not working in isolation. Carolyn Wilkins, a senior economist with the Bank of Canada, gave us some great background on the current econonmic situation in her talk, “The Bank of Canada’s Response to the Global Financial Market Turmoil” With my thanks, Anthony McGlynn, Chair - Circle K Committee 2008 - 2009

Partners In Caring

Thank you to all the Kiwanis members who purchased tickets to the Ottawa Senators Hockey game on February 24th. Because of your support, the 80 tickets sold by Past President Tom Spence will result in $1,290 being raised for our club. These funds will be used to contribute to our community services support.

Bon Appetit Silent Auction

Tuesday, May 5, 2009 5:30 – 9:00 Aberdeen Pavilion Welcome to Co-Chairs Phil Rossy and Bruno DiChiara who will be leading this committee. The next Committee meeting is on Wednesday, March 11th at 7:00 a.m. at Perkin’s Restaurant. If You Are Interested in joining this committee, contact VP Phil Rossy. *** Kiwanis Silent Auction – One Of Our Major Fundraisers *** We need your help to obtain auction items. If you are able to contribute to this year’s event, or if you are able to obtain an item from your business contacts, we’d be interested in more items for fitness, gardening, cycling, house wares, sports, digital and electronic equipment, etc. Think of what you’d like to bid on at an auction. A Donor Slip is attached for you to copy. The Bon Appetit is a terrific event for you to invite your business colleagues and friends. Over 2,000 people are wooed by more than 90 of the region’s top Restaurants, Wineries and Breweries, and this event sells out every year. Eat and drink to your heart's content for only $75.00! Tickets to the event can be purchased from Tom Spence at our Friday meetings or give Tom a call. In 2008, thanks to the help of our club members and our donors, the Silent Auction at Bon Appetit raised $30,000 These funds are vital for our continued support of our sponsored youth and children programs. As one of our 4 major fundraisers, the Silent Auction should be well supported. If you would like to volunteer the day of the event, please sign up on the sheets at the luncheons, or give Phil Rossy a call.
