President Richard Munro presented Kathleen Holst, Chair of the Oktoberfest Committee the President's Rose this week. Sponsored into our Club in 1996 by Past President's David Fair and Marcia Saipe, Kathleen quickly became an active and dedicated Kiwanian. Whether it be assisting with the renovations at the old Immaculata High School in one of our Hands-on-Projects, chairing the Iodine Deficiency Disaorders Committee, leading the first annual "Loonies on the Mall" fundraiser which raised $5,200 in less than two hours, chairing the Dream of a Lifetime Committee and selling out the alloted 800 tickets netting $31, 000 for the Community Services Account - it seems that wherever there has been a Kiwanis project underway, Kathleen has brought her motivation, enthusiasm and has delivered successful results. This year Kathleen took on the mammoth task of leading a brand fundraising project and committee - the first Annual Oktoberfest. And what a job they did! Our first Annual Oktoberfest and it went off without hitch and was a resounding success! We are going to miss Kathleen as she follows her dreams to Canada's west coast.
