Donald Houston Don Houston was born in Montreal and grew up in Lachine; he attended the University of New Brunswick but completed his degree at MacDonald College of McGill University, a BSc. in Agriculture, majoring in Land Planning and Environmental Conservation. Don has also spent time in Alberta, Vancouver, and Plymouth MA where he was a whale watch naturalist.
After graduation he became a “professional environmentalist” for more than 20 years, before joining Choice Realty as a real estate agent.
Don’s wife Claudia (from Brazil) trained as an Architect and Urban Planner, worked in international development and is currently at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Don and Claudia have a terrific 11-year-old daughter.
Don was a founder of the Toronto Environmental Alliance and served on its first board. He was also on the boards of the Ontario Science Centre and called East Coast Ecosystems, a whale research/education organization. More recently he served of the board of Olde Forge Community Resource Centre, serving the elderly population of Ottawa West.
Before entering the Real Estate field Don was the Executive Director of the Smart Commute Association of the Greater Toronto Area and before that he was the Environmental Health Director for the Canadian Institute of Child Health.
