The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa is proud to announce that Marian Hossa has generously purchased 100 tickets to allow children identified by the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club to attend this upcoming Thursday game (Feb. 9th) between the Ottawa Senators and the Atlanta Thrashers.
The Kiwanis Club’s Partners in Caring game event is an annual partnership initiative with the Ottawa Senators to support charitable activities within the community. The proceeds from this year’s activity will go towards supporting the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group Youth Psychiatry and the Kiwanis Club’s sponsored youth programs.
Clive Woolley, Kiwanis committee chair, indicated that in playing his first game in Ottawa since his trade to the Atlanta Thrashers, Marian wanted to reflect his appreciation to the city of Ottawa and Senators fans for their tremendous support and kindness to him while he was a member of the Ottawa Senators.
“I was happy that the Kiwanis Club contacted me to see if I’d be interested in supporting their community service work in this manner. Ottawa is a tremendous hockey community and the fans were so supportive of the team and me while I had the privilege to play for the Senators. I’m pleased to express my gratitude and thanks to the community and the Ottawa Senators organization by supporting the Kiwanis service club and allowing some children to attend this game.”
Mr. Woolley says that this year’s Partners in Caring event will be a great success, thanks in part to Marian’s wonderful gift. The Ottawa Senators have been a valued partner with us in this initiative over the years and we are very appreciative of their cooperation and assistance in working with us. We expect this year’s fundraiser will generate about $ 30,000 for our identified charitable activities.
