Vietnamese Boat People Museum Project (VBPM) is currently under development in Ottawa and is an international initiative spearheaded by the Vietnamese Canadian Federation. Located at the corner of Preston and Somerset streets, it is an invaluable addition to the rich cultural landscape between Little Italy and Chinatown. Join us to hear more about this heritage site which will preserve and present the story of the Vietnamese refugee exodus in 1975 where a million and a half refugees fled from the country seeking freedom, mainly by boat. Also, you will hear how the late Marion Dewar, Mayor of Ottawa in 1978, stepped up to provide help to the refugees.
