Volunteer Round Up - We need a Kiwanis Champion for every school

Registration has begun for the Spring 2005 Read-a-thon! The YCPO Committee is looking for volunteers to champion elementary schools participating in the Spring 2005 Read-a-thon. Ways you can help include: delivering Read-a-thon materials and prizes to schools; volunteering to read to students; attending assemblies; presenting prizes; and offering to help teachers.

OLGC Prizes needed for Beacon Schools! Thank you to Myrna Beattie for donating school supplies from Pharma Plus Drugmart! Books, school supplies, tickets, sporting goods, etc. are needed! Students are motivated to read and have fun with incentives. Can you or your company donate money or prizes for the Spring 2005 Read-a-thon?

Thank you to Howard Whittaker, the gordongroup donated the design of the 2005 Read-a-thon promotional materials including posters, bookmarks and student certificates. The gordongroup also designed a Kiwanis Read-a-thon public service announcement that will run in the Ottawa Citizen in February.

Thank you to Harold Geller, See You in Torino and Read-a-thon have partnered—Olympic athletes have offered to visit schools during the read-a-thon to read to and inspire Ottawa area students. Plans are in the works for a special Read-a-thon lunch presentation in May 2005.
