Hilton Garden Inn Ottawa Airport, 2400 Alert Road, Ottawa
Fay Brunning, Lawyer, with Sack, Goldblatt, Mitchell, LLP
Fay will talk to us about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which came out of the settlement of a national class action law suit against the Federal Government and churches who ran “Indian residential schools”. The settlement also provides compensation to First Nations Canadians who were childhood victims of abuse in the residential schools they were forced to attend under federal policy.
Fay recently won a victory for her clients in Court that exposed that the federal government was in violation of the settlement agreement, for hiding a body of evidence that proved widespread abuse at that school.
This is a meeting you won’t want to miss as Fay will help us understand the truth about Indian Residential Schools for there to be meaningful reconciliation with what our past public policies did to about 7 generations of aboriginal Canadians.
On the Menu: Spice-Rubbed Chicken with Pineapple Salsa, Rice Pilaf, Vegetables, and Country Apple Tart.
