The Ottawa Kiwanis Key Clubs has been very active this year. We started off the year very strong, much better than previous years, with club memberships up an average 20% from last year. Our school administration advisors have been extremely supportive this year. All advisors have been with their clubs over 5 years now.
SRB has been active with their annual Canadian Tire drive which raised $3,200 for Toy Mountain. They helped out the Christmas dinner at the Good Companion Center and they are also planning to be participating in the Bedzzz Race this year. Sir Robert Borden's advisor Mr. Eugene Zubryn was recognized at our Friday luncheon in December for his considerable contribution to his club.
Our Glebe club has been very active with fundraising and volunteering. Also this year’s lieutenant governor Ms. Trang Pham hails from Glebe. Lisgar has also been active with their most notable contribution of $700 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, a cheque presentation was hosted at our February 4th Friday lunch. They also plan to present this cheque at the annual telethon on February 25. Nepean has also been very active with local assistance to the Dovercourt Community Center and they are planning their big spaghetti night fundraiser to be held March 29. Last year they raised $1700 for Breast Cancer.
And finally, a number of students are planning to attend the annual Key Club convention in Halifax in April. These are only some of the things our key clubs are doing. The Ottawa Kiwanis Club should be very proud of our key clubbers.
