Kiwanis Christmas Party

Please come and join your fellow Kiwanians at our 2017 Christmas Cocktail Party on Friday Dec 1, 2017 - 6 pm start time. The event will be hosted by Thyme and Again – 1255 Wellington St W. in their private room on 2nd floor.

Space is limited so book early. Tickets only $65.00 each.

Includes chef prepared Hors D ’Oeuvres, interactive chef assisted food stations, as well as, various sweet desserts, coffee and tea. (Note - there will be a wide selection of Vegetarian/Gluten free choices. Please email Cathy James Zelney if you’d like more information or to see full menu.

Format will not be a sit-down meal, instead cocktail style with bistro tables as well as couches/chairs – plenty of room to mingle for fellowship and visiting while enjoying the food.

Open cash bar – including red & white wine, beer and liquor and non-alcoholic beverages as well. 

  • We will be having a gift giving raffle to support Connaught Public school hats and mitts program.
  • We will be having a Christmas gift exchange – please bring a gift of $15.00 -$20.00 if you would like to participate.

100th Anniversary Picnic

Our Ottawa Kiwanis Club’s special party to mark our 100th Anniversary is a Family Picnic at Vincent Massey Park on Saturday June 10. 

We want all member and families to come and we need to know if you are coming. Extended family and friends are welcome.

The cost for adults is $10 each. The cost for children is $5 each.

You may pay ahead with your credit card by informing the Kiwanis office when you confirm your attendees, OR, you can pay at our next three Kiwanis luncheon meetings using our Point of Sale, when you pay for your lunch.

The tickets you reserve will be available at the Park on the day of the Picnic.

Please make your decision and let us know ASAP. The space allocated at Vincent Massey Park is limited to 200 people.



EC&C District Convention

The Kiwanis Clubs in the Ottawa area will be hosting the Eastern Canada & Caribbean District Convention. The Convention will align with the Club's 100th anniversary, as well as 150 years anniversary for Canada. The event will see 500 Kiwanians arrive in Ottawa as part of an annual planning process.


All the details about the convention are available their web site, and can be followed on their Facebook page.

ALL members are invited to participate, even if you are NOT REGISTERED for the Convention itself, but possibly as a volunteer or you may want to attend the Host Night and or the Gala Dinner. We'd love to celebrate Kiwanis with many members  from every local Kiwanis Club.  See the list of events below.

Key Leader for Adults – May 17th - Lead Facilitator – Kiwanis International President Jane Erikson

There are 47 people registered and growing for the Key Leader for Adults forum on May 17th 1- 6 pm.  We will be holding the forum in the Oak Room in the Westin Hotel in Ottawa. Host Night - Friday May 19th

Join us for Host Night at the EC & C Convention as we celebrate all things CANADIANA. This event is a separate ticket from convention registration and is open to Friends and Family of Kiwanis. The event will take place at the Canadian Museum of History in the Grand Hall. 

The spectacular Grand Hall offers an introduction to the history, cultures and beliefs of the First Peoples of Canada’s Pacific Coast. With its curving, six-storey window wall and unrivalled view of Parliament Hill, the Grand Hall is one of the country’s most impressive indoor public spaces and the Museum’s architectural centrepiece. Visitors will discover six iconic Native houses connected by a Pacific Coast shoreline and boardwalk, magnificent totem poles, the original plaster pattern for Spirit of Haida Gwaii by celebrated Haida artist Bill Reid, and Raven Bringing Light to the World, a gold-on-bronze sculpture by Robert Davidson.

2016 Accora Village Bed Race for Kiwanis Results

The Accora Village Bed Race for Kiwanis was forced to change locations to the Laurier Steet Bridge, and the event came off with lots of smiles on the second weekend of Winterlude with $40,000 being raised for Kiwanis Club of Ottawa projects.

Turnover Party

Turnover Party (tern'o'ver par'te) n.   The fall ritual of changing Kiwanis Club of Ottawa's president marked with celebration by members, friends and spouses.  Outgoing and incoming Presidents are toasted, sometimes with alcoholic beverages.  All participants are fed and found to be smiling, laughing and frequently enjoying themselves.  Dancing is known to break out.

On Saturday, September 26, we will say goodbye and thank you to President Gary Flockton for steering a steady ship this past year. We will also welcome Wayne French into his new role as President. 

A casual evening at Lone Star Ranch on Hunt Club West will put a smile on your face without draining your wallet at $50. per ticket for dinner and a dance.  So put on your best duds and cowboy hats, come solo or bring your favourite boot-scooting partner for music by Greg Campbell, our popular DJ!

2015 Accora Village Bed Race for Kiwanis Presented by Allstream


Put your team together for the annual Accora Village Bed Race presented by Allstream for the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa on February 7, 2015. This will be the 34th running of the Bed Race, and the 12th organized by the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa.

Funds raised goes to support the Kiwanis Read-a-thon and other Kiwanis Club of Ottawa's programs and the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation. You can register your teams and pledges here.

The race will take place on Dow's Lake, with

  • registration starting at 11:00, 
  • the Parade of Beds at 12:30,
  • racing between 13:00 and 14:30, 
  • and the after party at the Lone Star starting at 15:00.

This is a fun event for teams of all ages, so come on out, have fun and help Kiwanis support the community.

  • Team registration is $300 and the registration fee is waived if your team raises $1000 or more in pledges
  • Your team gets a minimum 2 races with a potential for up to 5
  • Great prizes and bragging rights
  • You are required to build and decorate your bed, though there are a limited prebuilt beds are available for purchase of $200 (for pick up).

The Accora Village Bed Race is a great opportunity for companies and organizations to do some team buildling. The Bed Race can include special heats for teams to compete, and Halsall Associates has made a whole weekend of team building around the event.

2014 Watch-It, Shred-It Day


Dispose of your personal records securely and support Kiwanis programs, too!

Bring your old tax files and other personal records for this one-day fundraising event. Watch as Shred-it technicians destroy your documents at their mobile unit. Cost to you is only $8 per box.  You can bring a bankers box (approximately 12"x12"x15") or any box that you can carry, and if you want they'll even give you back the box.

When: Saturday, October 18, 2014  from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Plaza, at the intersection of Carling and Kirkwood just off the Queensway.  Just look for the big Shred-it trucks and drive into the parking lot. Volunteers will direct you where to drive.
