CHEO Donations from Mac's and Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa has great partnership for the Kiwanis TV Bingo with Mac's Milk who are the exclusive sales agent for the weekly bingo cards.

As a thank you for the help from Mac's, the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa made a $15,000 donation to the CHEO Foundation on behalf of Mac's, who kindly matched the donation with their own $15,000. Here are some photos of the donations made at Mac's store at Metcalfe and Gloucester in Ottawa.

KIwanis Luncheon - Christo Bilukidi, NFL defensive lineman

Christo Bilukidi met a man on a plane… and his life changed.

Growing up in community housing with a strong single mom who encouraged her children to do their best he seized the opportunity for a good education and moved to the U.S. on a football scholarship. He was 22 and made it to the big league.

One day he realized he didn’t want to play football anymore and came back to his hometown Ottawa and is now an ambassador for the Ottawa Community Housing Foundation and encourages children to grab the opportunities that life offers them. He also started his own business making SUITS FOR ALL.

President’s Rose

President Steve was proud to give his first president’s rose to Warren Gencher for all the work he does for our club. He provides marketing assistance to our TV Bingo on a regular basis and supports many of our club projects. Congratulations Warren.

20th Annual Kiwanis Golf Tournament

Since the first Kiwanis Charity Golf Tournament in 1998 the tournament has raised nearly $1,200,000. All of the net proceeds will be distributed to the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa’s charitable organization with a focus on youth homelessness in Ottawa, a growing and disturbing trend. The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa has made it a major focus to work with key stakeholders that provide support and housing for Ottawa’s most vulnerable homeless population.

The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa ran its 20th Annual  Charity Golf Tournament at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, . The net proceeds will be distributed to support various deserving Kiwanis service projects which support the Kiwanis theme of “One Can Make a Difference”.

The Club would like to thank our sponsors for the event, who were crticial to its success.

A 'little' bit of rain during the day did not dampen the spirits of the golfers.

There are many more photos from the event available here ->
