Luncheon Meeting - Key Club – Gina Parker - One Match Program

12:00 - 13:45 at Fairmont Chateau Laurier

The Key Club Luncheon with Gina Parker, a Carleton University student who spoke to us on the One Match program – for swabbing to obtain donors for the bone marrow matching registry. She has lived with a family member who is in need of a donor – with no match having been found to date – world wide. She shared  her passion and provided the message of how simple it could be to save a life.  To pay it forward – along with the true message – that one can make a difference.  There are people in need of our assistance in our own backyard – we don’t have to travel the world to make a difference.

Key Leader Program a Success

Key Leader 2013 will be in its 5th year serving Eastern Ontario, and once again Key Clubbers have flocked to this sold out event. In 2003, Kiwanis International assembled a task force of professionals with more than 175 years of experience in teaching, coaching, developing and encouraging young leaders. They were asked to design a program that moves beyond where most other youth leadership programs stop. The result: Key Leader Program. This leadership retreat will be held at Circle Square Ranch in Arden, Ontario. Students alumni have said it's been a life-changing experience for them.

“As you all know, Elaine Wagman and I just returned from the Key Leader Program (KLP) held at Arden, Ontario last weekend. There were a total of 68 students participating. Governor Hope Marks, Program Chair Jim McIntosh, Event Coordinator Firma French, and several other chaperones attending past KLPs all unanimously agreed this was by far the best leadership training conference we have had across all sites in Eastern Canada. It is clear we have succeeded as a club to launch this fantastic initiative in the Ottawa area to great praise given the attending participants”.  Robert Sirotek, Chair of Key Club Committee.
