August 2011

Let’s keep the fire burning…………..Bring a new member to Kiwanis today… share the enjoyment –its too good a secret not to share.

Congratulations to Division 12 for your vision in helping to raise $45,482 this year for the ECC Childrens project to eliminate HIV/Aids.  Once again we have proven we can lead Kiwanis through working together.

I have handed out the Quarterly ribbon for the past quarter to the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa –for your leadership and vision in helping to raise funds for the Children’s project – and continuning support of Kiwanis clubs in our region.

LGE Gary Coulombe (Division 13) and LGE Joel Edelson (Division 12) are working on their goals and vision for next year – I would ask you give them your full support.

MY GOALS FOR THE YEAR - UPDATE

1 – HELP THE CLUBS IN DIVISION 12 TO RETAIN THEIR MEMBERS AND GROW – I intend to introduce a new member to the Kiwanis club of Ottawa before the end of the year – and will introduce at least 5 new members to the Bytown club via a satellite club….one can make a difference. – thank you to everyone for your support. 5. Organize fun event out of the Country  for a weekend – Chicago –first weekend in August   (hopefully a combined Kiwanis / Rotary event – with Kiwanians and Rotarians from Canada and the USA) – this will carry past my LG term but will happen – I will be working on it later this year for a spring or early summer of 2012 event.

6. Organizing a Golf Tournament for Charity – Friday  July 15th in association with   lenders , mortgage brokers, Kiwanians  and friends – Kanata Lakes…..DONE

The Pay it Forward Golf Tournament  – We Choose to Care

This event is fun –It will be finished by 330-400pm and everyone can go home to their families or stay and enjoy themselves – satisfied they have made a difference in just one day. This was a tremendous success with approximately 100 people participating – we are in the process of finalizing the numbers – but it would appear –we have raised approx 8-10K …thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Bytown and the Young Professionals/Bar club who supported this event wholeheartedly.
