Kiwanis Club Of Ottawa Song For Allan Castledine, Vince Calzonetti & Barry Weatherdon

Lyrics provided by Mark Max - Sung to the tune of “O Susanna”

1. This has been a wonderful meeting, we’ve made a real hubbub,

About three exceptional and wonderful guys, three pillars of our club,

So now we need to wrap it up with verse and a little song,

But in order for it all to work, you need to sing along -

Chorus

Barry, Vince and Allan, outstanding members they are,

With leaders like them our Ottawa Club has been able to go far,

Allan, Vince and Barry, one hundred and fifty-seven years,

Of great Kiwanis service, for which we give three cheers.

1.Vince Calzonetti is the junior member - of our illustrious trio,

A fine and true gentleman – with a spirit that’s con brio,

As President in ‘75/’76 the Seniors Committee was formed,

And the Committee’s annual Christmas Dinner is still served and warmed -

A Benefit Dinner that raised 10 grand, a Tv Auction supreme,

25 thou to the Boys and Girls Club for their new Centretown team,

Our Legion of Honour Luncheons have had Vince’s special touch,

There’s not too many members who have contributed so very much –

Chorus

1. Barry Weatherdon joined our Club in nineteen fifty-six,

A focus on keeping membership strong has always been his fix,

He was elected as Club President in ninety sixty-nine,

What every other President did in twelve months, Barry did in nine,

The Gordon Currie Memorial Building for Camp Banting at “Y” camp,

Was a truly special project that carried Barry’s stamp,

The Ottawa-Carleton Conservation Centre started under his green thumb,

54 years of service to us and that ain’t no ho-hum -

Chorus

Barry, Vince and Allan, outstanding members they are,

With leaders like them our Ottawa Club has been able to go far,

Allan, Vince and Barry, one hundred and fifty-seven years,

Of great Kiwanis service, for which we give three cheers.

(Key Change)

1.Our first Air Cadet, our youngest member and our youngest President,

Going on sixty years with us and he’s nowhere nearly spent,

A committee of which he is a member is really truly blessed,

‘Cause a meeting at Big Rideau or Mont Ste-Marie is always the very best,

He grows our Medical Foundation funds, he Passed The Torch for the

Museum,

The Engagement, Retention & Recruitment Campaign had his involvement supreme,

His zest and vigour, his love of Kiwanis is truly something to behold,

If you want a perfect member, Allan Castledine is the mold –

Chorus

1.This has been a wonderful meeting, we’ve made a real hubbub,

About three exceptional and wonderful guys, three pillars of our club,

For one last time we’ll wrap it up with the chorus of this song,

So take a breath and sing it out - really loud and strong -

Chorus

Barry, Vince and Allan, outstanding members they are,

With leaders like them our Ottawa Club has been able to go far,

Allan, Vince and Barry, one hundred and fifty-seven years,

Of great Kiwanis service, for which we give three cheers.
