President Derek welcomed everyone to the meeting then handed the mic to Past President & Distinguished Lt. Governor Ron Wing. Ron, about to introduce the 23rd member that he has sponsored into the Club noted the importance of membership recruitment and requested that all members should set a goal of bringing in a new member this year.
Our guest speaker Wayne Scanlan began by saying that in this day and age, it is commendable that our Club has met at the Chateau Laurier since 1917. In his 25 years of writing, Wayne has had no greater or rewarding task than to author Roger's World, The Life & Unusual Times of Roger Neilson. From the beginning, stories continued to arrive by phone, email and letter. It was clear to Wayne that the essence of Roger was his connection to people and provided him with a valuable lesson on humanity, faith and goodwill. Roger had a passion for life and left an impression on everyone he met.
Clive Woolley and the Partners in Caring committee were happy to announce that the $16,033.00 raised through the Senators 50/50 draws would be going to Roger's House. Roger's House will be situated on the grounds of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).
