Weekly Meeting - Maundy Thursday / Passover

Allan Bacon spoke very personally about his experiences travelling overseas, and the hardships that he witnessed. Stressing that HOPE is central to both Passover and Easter, he suggested that the most important teaching is to, "Love your neighbour as yourself ".

Working through the Salvation Army, his target communities were among the poorest of the poor in the world. He worked WITH communities, not FOR them, ensuring that the community took ownership of a project for their development, and thus ensured they maintained their dignity, and a sense of self-worth.

"May we all be mindful of our responsibility to make a difference."

It was great to have former member of the club, Past Lt. Governor, Doug Legere, and his wife Judy, join us for lunch today. Lt. Governor-Elect Rick Barrigar, representing the Past Presidents, made a presentation to Doug thanking him for his 31 years of dedicated service to Kiwanis, noting the great job he did in his presidential year. It was only fitting that Doug was presented with homemade bread and jam.

Thought for the week The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the next best time is now.
