Weekly Meeting - Dr. Raphael Saginur on the Research Ethics Board

Dr. Raphael Saginur reported that the Research Ethics Board ensures there are 'no more guinea pigs'. Research on human subjects will always be necessary in order to advance clinical knowledge and to access new regulated drugs and new medical devices. He stressed that there must be respect for patients and for the process of clinical research. The Board must continue to work to gain the public's respect and one way they are doing that is to follow through on research and make their findings public.

Past President John Callan spoke from the heart today when he recognized 7 new members who were officially inducted. John stressed the need for them to get involved in the club by attending the luncheons, attend committee meetings and social events, and participate in fundraisers. The more you get involved, the more fun you will have as a member of the club.
