Thank you to the Membership Committee for their presentation and for the questions from the members. President Neil gave special thanks to Albert Monsour for his presentation of the Financial Statements and to Bill Gosewitz for presenting the budgets, on behalf of the Board of Directors, and to Rita and Mike for ensuring the audit was done in a timely fashion and the Annual Reports were delivered to all members.
Thank you to Past President Wayne Beaudoin for acting as our Club Parliamentarian. Most importantly, President Neil thanked all members for attending our AGM - it shows your interest, obligation and dedication as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa.
“One Can Make a Difference” – President’s Rose Immediate Past President Sam Bhargava was introduced to our club in 1987 by former member Ron Peterson. Providing active hands-on participation, Sam has worked for many committees over the years. He chaired the Young Children Priority One Committee and led the way in the development of the “Never Shake a Baby” video project, a project that has realized thousands of videos sold throughout North and South America. He was also instrumental in the development of our second video project “Precious Minds” Nurturing Literacy in the Early Years. His eagerness and dedication to Kiwanis, from the local Clubs to Kiwanis International is commendable. His strong leadership and business sense ensured a successful year, and the Board continues to follow the plans he put in place to Make a Difference in our community.

Raffle Prize Congratulations to Glen Vaillancourt, who won the raffle of two tickets to the Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Night for Parkinson’s and to Allan Castledine, who won the raffle of the 50/50 draw. Congratulations to Pat Kelly, Dean of Algonquin College's School of Hospitality and Tourism, on his appointment as the President of the Ottawa Congress Centre. He was selected after a Canada-wide search from a list of six finalists.
Bon Appetit!!! Bon Appetit Ottawa, Kiwanis Silent Auction - MARK YOUR CALENDARS - On Tuesday, May 1, 2007, from 5:30 - 9:00, our Bon Appetit Silent Auction Committee will be holding our 8th Annual Silent Auction at the Bon Appetit Food and Beverage Extravaganza at Lansdowne Park. Over 2,000 people are wooed by more than 90 of the region’s top Restaurants, Wineries and Breweries, and this event sells out every year. Tickets to the event are $75 and can be obtained from Tom Spence at our Friday meetings. The Kiwanis Silent Auction, showcases over 125 items and we are asking ALL members to consider providing items in the area of $200 or more to be auctioned off. This is an incredible opportunity to gain exposure for your business, or for your business associates, while supporting one of our major fundraisers. Last year, the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa gave back over $300,000 to our community through its many fund raising initiatives, and thanks to the help of our club members, the Silent Auction at Bon Appetit raised $29,000.
