The date has been set for the 24th edition of the Bed Race, and Valentines Day seems to be a very fitting day.
The Enbridge 24th Annual Bed Race organized by the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa for the Kiwanis Medical Foundation will take place during Winterlude on Dows Lake on February 14th. The judging of the beds for best decorated will begin at 12:30 and racing will begin at 13:00.
The race still has places for teams, and race registration, pledge forms and fact sheets are available now!
The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa Bed Race Committee is organizing this fun event, with the proceeds being directed to the Kiwanis Medical Foundation. Kiwanis has also partnered with the Information Technology Branch of the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) for a used blanket drive. CCRA employees will be on site to collect used blankets for distribution to the disadvantaged, so feel free to bring a gentley used blanket down.
The weather forecast for this year is not quite available yet (last year was brisk with a wind chill of -40 C), however the enthusiasm of the racers and the crowd with the help of master of ceremonies Max Keeping and Suzanne Pinel will make for a great day.
Information on last years race can be found here including a short video (requires free Quicktime), and lots of photos can be found here.
