Yes Folks, contrary to what you may think --SPRING IS HERE and our ducks have gone into spring training. Your dream team is enthusiastically preparing for their big day on May 12th. I must let you in on a secret -- Coach Quacky is relentless. He's putting the team through their paces and ignores their quacking over sore muscles and ruffled feathers. The competition this year is fierce. Those rookie sensations, with their cool designer Tommy Hilfinger sunglasses, are really strutting their stuff. But the aging veterans are not ready for the bathtub yet - they may have traded in their sunglasses for bifocals, but they still have a thing or two to teach those young drakes about winning the race.
Once again, this year we have a great team of agents who are beating the bushes to make sure that all 100,000 ducks get picked up in the first draft! Working with the great folks at CHEO, we have lined up an impressive team of corporate sponsors and dealers who are spreading the word arround the region.
My appreciation to all of them for their invaluable contribution. And a special thanks to my fellow Kiwanians and to all participating Kiwanis Clubs who work so hard in selling tickets. It is through all of your efforts that we were able to make a $1 MILLION donation to CHEO last year.
The Kiwanis Farm Boy Duck Race 2001 for Tiny Hearts at CHEO Day is promising to be a great event. We have expanded our Kids Zone and there are plenty of activities for the whole family. Starting at 10:00 AM, there will be face painting, games, and more. With your continued enthusiasm and support we can make Duck Race 2001 the best ever for all of our little ducklings at CHEO.
Please help us sell out this year. Buy a ticket for yourself and every member of your family. Take a book of tickets to sell all of your friends, colleagues and neighbours.
Spread the word and don't forget to come out on May 12th and watch the ducks in action. The Ducks go in the water at 1:00 PM at the Hartwell Locks on May 12, 2001.
See you all there on Duck Race Day!
