"To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than the material values of life"

This is an active Committee passionate about our projects and dedicated to ensuring that the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa makes a significant impact on people's lives both locally and globally. Our projects for the 1999-2000 club year include: Theology Student bursaries Foster Children Sponsorship High School CPR Project Kiwanis International Foundation Salvation Army Kettle Appeal AKtion Club Luncheon Programs Specific Requests Luncheon Programs: Remembrance Day - Jack Granatstein (War Museum) Sisterhood / Brotherhood Week - Paul Shibley (Jubilee 2000) Easter/Passover - Archbishop Gervais (with a special guest vocalist) Salvation Army Annual Red Shield Luncheon Thanksgiving - Suzanne Pinel (Citizenship Court Judge) AKtion Club

Our Committee provides leadership and support for this newly sponsored Kiwanis Club comprised of over 30 developmentally challenged adults. AKtion Club members meet every two weeks at the Montgomery Legion, 330 Kent Street and participate in outside events. Our challenge now is to engage these individuals in fundraising activities that will ensure their continuing interest and that will lead to the Aktion Club's financial independence. High School CPR Project

We contribute guidance and advice to the (Advanced Coronary Treatment) ACT Foundation of Canada as they solicit support from Kiwanis Clubs throughout Ontario. The ACT Founda-tion has been successful in encouraging the Ontario Ministry of Education to have CPR training included as a mandatory subject under the new high school curriculum. However, they still need to raise the money required to purchase mannequins for this training. In the past six months, we have helped them to raise $120,000 from 27 Kiwanis Club across Ontario.
