The singers are going caroling on Friday December 13 th to raise funds for The Ottawa Food Bank and several children's charities that Kiwanis Clubs support.
Although no Pavarottis have signed on yet, most of us can carry a tune and we do like to have fun. We're Kiwanians joined by friends and colleagues who want to make a difference in our community.
Here’s how it works… They have been invited by a number of restaurants and pubs to pay them a brief visit on the evening of Friday, December 13. Costumed as Santas and Elves, they will be driven around town in a bus. Led by our head carolers, they sing two songs at each location and collect donations from the customers.
They start by assembling at the Kiwanis Hall (former Vanier City Hall at 300 Des Pères Blancs - free parking available) at 5:00 p.m. for a light buffet, costuming, last-minute instructions from team leaders and a rehearsal. Participants are provided with costuming, song sheets, collection jugs and everything else. They finish up at a local restaurant for more refreshments, prizes and thank-you gifts for participants before busing back to the Kiwanis Club Hall at about 10:00 p.m.
Here’s how you can participate… You don’t need a big voice to join in — just a warm smile and a big heart.
Santa’s Souper Singers can accommodate 40 participants this year. In order to take part and reserve your spot on the bus, we ask that you collect a minimum of $100 in pledges from your family, neighbours and work-mates. Bring your pledge form and donations with you to the Kiwanis Hall at 5:00 p.m. on the 13th. No need to stop at $100! Prizes will be awarded to top pledge-collectors.
