The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa has had a long involvement with children’s causes, and has partnered with the Ottawa Senators for the last 3 years in the ‘Partners in Caring’ program. As an on-going part of this partnership, the Kiwanis Club Of Ottawa will host Roger Neilson, assistant coach of the Ottawa Senators, as its guest speaker during its weekly luncheon on Friday January 19th.
Mr. Neilson will not only talk about hockey but his experience with cancer. The meeting will be held at the Chateau Laurier Hotel on Friday January 19th, 12:30 PM. In keeping with the major emphasis of Kiwanis, the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa will be making a donation to the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Trust.
On February 22nd, the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa will be partnering with the Ottawa Senators at the game with the Florida Panthers. The Kiwanis Club will be selling tickets to the game, with the proceeds of the game and the 50/50 draw being used to support Kiwanis community projects like the Candlelighters.
The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa is celebrating 84 years of active fund raising and community involvement as a not-for-profit organization. The largest Kiwanis Club in Canada, the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa is one of the most active and dynamic service clubs in the world. Each year the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa returns $500,000 to the local community. One of the 8,000 Clubs in Kiwanis International, the Club has met every Friday since 1917 at the Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa. Other projects carried on by Kiwanis in the Ottawa area include the Kiwanis Duck Race for Tiny Hearts, the “Never Shake a Baby” educational video, and the “Reading is Fundamental” project running at Connaught Public School.
