To all the friends, fellow Kiwanians, family and associates who volunteered for this project – words cannot express our gratitude. May you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and prosperous New Year.

150 Families, 212 adults and 261 children received baskets this year.

Over 13,000 pounds of groceries were delivered (including 195 dozen eggs/ 1300 pounds of pasta/ 1300 pounds of potatoes/ 1300 pounds of carrots / 390 litres of milk) in 423 boxes (the boxes were donated through Costco by Algoma Orchards).

We raised approximately $19,900 (plus Costco providing 20 of the families with food - they contributed $4000 and an additional 59 turkeys)

The average cost of a food hamper was approximately $143.

Here are some of the responses from the volunteers -

“What a success! This is my 4th year and I delivered to 3 families today..a total of 6 families. ....One of yesterday's recipients gave me a Christmas card in which she had written the following:

"Thank you for all your help this Christmas..very much appreciated! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays from the ***** Family."

It is the first family to do this. This makes it all worthwhile”

“Merry Christmas to you and your families and good health, happiness and prosperity in 2011 so we can do more great things!! ... Jackie Holzman

“I received 'many words' of gratitude on Saturday as well as a genuine 'huge' hug from one of my recipients...she was soooo thankful... It feels good to be making a small difference, we are all making a difference! Many hands made this a successful event, thank you to All of you & your efforts during this busy time of year”  ... Catherine James-Zelney.

“Joanne and I delivered to 4 families and each one gave us a hug or had tears in their eyes -praising Jesus for their good fortune - one lady said she had purchased Christmas gifts for her grandchildren which left very little for food - she was overwhelmed with our generosity....well done my fellow Kiwanians - not sure if we made a difference long term - but the spirit of Christmas is alive and well” ..... Bill Gosewitz

All in All, a great project which provides warmth and a sense of accomplishment to the volunteers, sponsors, donors, and recipients.

Thank you to each and every one of you – who donated your time, efforts, and money to this cause – May you and your families be blessed in the coming year.
